Looks like a photo printed on transparency and mounted inside a silver box. You could get fancy and use sheet metal like real duct.

Given that I work with ductwork and just spent several hours with my photography-enthusiast nephew, my friends & family may well be getting these for next Xmas

I work on shows and we have to make whatever they want. It would be fun to make a life size version with an actual piece of duct and print it larger in it.
